Point Nipigon was founded in 1914 as a private summer resort. It boasts one the loveliest views of any Great Lakes shore. From this point on the Straits of Mackinac, one sees international freighter traffic, Bois Blanc and Mackinac Islands, and spectacular sunsets behind the Mackinac Bridge. 

Original Nipigon members hailed from Detroit, Fort Wayne, Kokomo, Lansing, Birmingham, and Grand Rapids, home of its founder, Glenn R. Chamberlain. Current members travel across the US, as well as around the world, to enjoy Nipigon’s beauty. 

Prior to 1978, Point Nipigon visitors could stay at The Inn where charming ambience and home cooked meals rounded out the Nipigon experience. As five generations of pioneer families can attest, Nipigon is Northern Michigan’s best-kept secret. 

Like most lakeshore developments, Nipigon’s summer cottages have gradually given way to year-round homes, where hearty types have access to winter snow sports as well as Lake Huron’s North Channel, one of the world’s finest cruising grounds.
